Durham College of Applied Arts and Technology is located in the Durham region of Ontario, Canada, with a campus co-located with Ontario Tech University in Oshawa, a second campus in Whitby, and community employment service in Uxbridge, Port Hope, Port Perry, Beaverton, Oshawa and Bowmanville. The college has an urban campus with over 43,600 students.

The campus of Durham College has many amenities available to students and multiple learning spaces designated for educational purposes. Its courses include information technology, media art, design, business, general arts among others. 

Brief history

 Established in1967, Durham College has educated more than 95,000 alumni. The institution was recognized in 18 September 1967 with a6 portable classrooms, 14 staff and 205 students, offering courses in applied arts, business and technology. The college soon added courses in health sciences and adult training and grew to 1,250 students by its 10th anniversary. 

The college grew with enrolment increasing to 2,700 in 1987 and further expansion of the facilities in 1990s, including the construction of a new robotic lab, the precursor to the integrated manufacturing center found on campus today. 

It was aired in October 2022 that the college had acquired naming rights to the Oshawa GO Station, located 30 minutes away from the college’s main campus by bus (8.2 km). the rights were purchased for an undisclosed amount. 

Campus and residence (local and international) 

The college has two main campuses located in Oshawa and Whitby, Ontario. Durham College offers the best residence, all the comforts of home in a unique community experience. The Simcoe Village and South Village residence offer safe, clean, and comfortable living accommodations for 1,360 students.

First-year students are guaranteed a spot in residence if they meet the deadlines for accepting Durham College’s offer of admission and applying to residence. Students enrolled in January-start programs may apply to residence and will be approved based on room availability. 

Ranking 

Being tagged as one of Canada’s top 50 research universities, Durham College was ranked #263 by US World and News Report, #162 by the World University Ranking and QS World University Ranking ranked the college #92. 

Tuition 

Durham College offers a wide range of programs in a number of different disciplines including business, information technology, media arts, design, general arts, science, skilled trades, justice, emergency service, health and engineering technology. Admission requirements

International students need a degree or certificate equivalent for admission to Durham College. Students need a minimum GPA 2.0 (73-76%) on a 4.0 scale to apply for Durham College Admissions.

Work experience: for admission to the graduate programs at Durham College, students might need professional experience of 2-3 years.
