Important: This is not an official OSAP assessment and does not estimate the exact amount of grants or loans you will receive. Your actual OSAP funding can be lower.
Your Estimated Maximum Aid Ceiling
Institution:
Student category:
Study period: 0 weeks
Published weekly maximum: $0
This Is Not Your Guaranteed OSAP Amount
Your result is an estimate of the maximum aid ceiling based on the published weekly OSAP limit and the study period you entered.
Your actual OSAP assessment may be substantially lower.
Not all of this amount is grant money. Your OSAP assessment may contain both non-repayable grants and repayable student loans.
Your actual funding can be affected by your income, family income, tuition and other educational costs, assets, course load, family circumstances and other financial resources.
Important 2026–2027 OSAP Change
For programs beginning on or after August 1, 2026, Ontario changed the provincial portion of OSAP so that a greater share of provincial assistance is provided through loans rather than grants.
Under the announced framework, a maximum of 25% of the provincial portion can be provided as grants and a minimum of 75% as loans.
Federal grants may still be available separately to eligible students.
Do not estimate your grant by simply multiplying the result above by 25%. The maximum-aid result can include federal and provincial assistance, which are calculated under different rules.
What Does This OSAP Calculator Estimate?
Ontario publishes maximum weekly student-aid amounts for eligible full-time students. This calculator multiplies the applicable published weekly maximum by the number of weeks you enter.
An eligible single student with no dependants attends an Ontario public university for a 34-week study period.
$530 per week × 34 weeks = $18,020
The student’s estimated maximum-aid ceiling would therefore be $18,020.
This does not mean the student will receive $18,020 from OSAP.
The student’s official OSAP assessment determines the actual amount of assistance and how much of that assistance consists of grants or loans.
What Can Affect Your Actual OSAP Amount?
Your official OSAP assessment can consider factors including:
- Your income
- Parental or spousal income when applicable
- Tuition and compulsory fees
- Books and required educational supplies
- Eligible living expenses
- Your assets and other financial resources
- Your course load
- Your family circumstances
- Dependants, where applicable
- The length of your study period
Is the Maximum Aid All Grant Money?
No. Your total OSAP assessment may contain a combination of grants and student loans.
Grants generally do not need to be repaid as long as you continue to meet the applicable requirements. Student loans must eventually be repaid.
Some grant funding can also become repayable if your eligibility changes or your application is reassessed.
