Aerospace Engineering — Toronto Metropolitan University
Offered by Toronto Metropolitan University
Toronto, Ontario
Program Overview
About This Program
Toronto Metropolitan University’s Aerospace Engineering program is a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree that prepares students to design, analyze and develop aircraft, spacecraft and related aerospace systems.
Students build a foundation in mathematics, physics and engineering before progressing into specialized aerospace subjects. Areas of study include aerodynamics, flight mechanics, propulsion, aircraft structures, control systems, aerospace design and other technologies used in aviation and space systems.
Aerospace Engineering Streams
Students can tailor their studies through streams in Aircraft, Avionics or Spacecraft. These options allow students to develop more specialized knowledge based on their interests and career goals.
Students also complete a final-year engineering design project that provides an opportunity to apply their technical knowledge to a complex aerospace engineering problem.
Co-op and Experiential Learning
Students can gain practical experience through TMU’s career-integrated co-op and internship opportunities. The optional five-year co-op format combines academic study with paid work experience and can provide up to 16 months of industry experience.
Students also have access to specialized aerospace laboratories and facilities and can participate in design teams, student clubs, competitions and other hands-on engineering activities.
Careers in Aerospace Engineering
Graduates can pursue careers in aviation, aerospace manufacturing, space technology, engineering consulting, research and related industries.
Potential careers include aircraft design engineer, flight test engineer, propulsion engineer, avionics engineer, systems engineer and space systems design engineer. Graduates may also pursue master's and doctoral studies in aerospace engineering and related engineering fields.
