Cambrian College; Everything You Need to Know

Cambrian College is a college of applied arts and technology. Having campuses in Sudbury, Espanola and little Current, Cambrian is funded by the province of Ontario (public funded). Located in 1400 Barrydowne Road Sudbury, Ontario, Canada P3A 3V8, Cambrian works in partnership with school boards, training institute, universities and other institutions. 

HISTORY 

Until 1995, Cambrian was a bilingual institution, offering courses in both English and French. During that year, the French programs were transferred to College Boreal. Founded as a trade school, Cambrian College was established in 1967 as a college of applied arts and technology in Greater Sudbury, Ontario and Canada.

CAMPUS AND RESIDENCE (Local And International)

The college has three campuses (little Current-Manitoulin Island, Espanola and Sudbury) with more than 100 regular diploma and certificate programs. With its short distance away from class, Cambrian contains labs and facilities which provides students the opportunity to get involved and have an ultimate campus experience. Residence in Cambrian holds a total of 677 students, where townhouse holds about 300 students and 377 students in dorm style residence.  

CAMBRIAN COLLEGE RANKING 

Ranked by various reputed platforms among the top universities for international students in Sudbury and Canada. According to QS World Ranking Cambrian College is ranked 1425 globally in 2022. According to another popular ranking body US News and World Report, Cambrian College is ranked 159 in Canada for the year 2022, the college has also secured rank #1325 in 2022 according to Times Higher Education. 

TUITION 

As the largest college in northern Ontario, the college has over 4,800 full-time students and close to 80 full-time programs with additional 9,000 registrations taken annually for part-time personal, about 1,600 international students from over 40 countries, professional and human development courses, workshops and seminars.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENT 

Policies of admission have been developed in line with regulations set out by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges, and universities in keeping with the principle of the Human Rights Code.

Postsecondary program 

The minimum requirement for postsecondary admission is an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (30 cedits), with courses from college, University, or open stream, or its equivalent, or mature student status. 

Degree programs

For admission to a degree program, the minimum requirement is an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (30 credits), including 6 courses from the University stream or its equivalent or mature student status. 

Adult training programs 

For some adult training program, the minimum academic requirement is grade 10 (applied or academic stream) or mature student status, unless otherwise stated. Graduates from old curriculum, unless otherwise stated is grade 10 (general or advanced) or mature student status.  

Mature students 

Mature student applicants must meet any specific entrance requirements of the program of choice; refer to the individual program descriptions for additional admission requirements. 

ACCEPTANCE RATE 

Students need to showcase their exceptional academic performance and meet the academic requirements to get accepted by the Cambrian College. Hence, the college considers a 70% acceptance rate.
