Brief history 

Queen’s College, Canada, was the original name for Queen’s University, which is a public research university located in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. It was established in 1841 through a royal charter from Queen Victoria and was originally known as Queen’s College. The university was founded by the Church of Scotland and Presbyterian Church and was initially designed to provide a liberal arts education for students in Canada.

In its early years, Queen’s College focused on educating students in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. Over time, the university expanded its programs and became known for its excellence in research and teaching across a broad range of disciplines.

Campus and residence (local and international) 

Queen’s has off-campus facilities in the Kingston area and abroad. The university has a second campus in Kingston, known as the west campus. Acquired in 1969, the west campus is 2 km (1.2 mi) west of the main campus, and covers 27 ha (67 acres) of land.

According to QS World University Ranking 2023, Queen ranks 246 in QS World University Ranking. Queen also ranks among the top universities in Canada. Currently, it holds the 11th position in Canada. Queen’s has successfully holds a high ranking in the world since 2017.

While QS puts a full focus on Academic Reputation (40%) followed by Faculty/Student Ratio and Citations per Faculty at 20% each, Times Higher Education devotes equal importance to Teaching, Research, and Citations at 30% each.

Tuition 

Tuition fee of the University depends on the program of study and student’s residency status. Having said that the following are Queen’s University tuition fee range:

• Undergraduate Canadian students: $7,000 to $19,000 per year.
• Undergraduate international students: $34,000 to $49,000 per year
• Graduate Canadian students: $5,000 to $16,000 per year
• Graduate international students: $15,000 to $33,000 per year

Admission requirements 

Applicants should note that 12th Grade graduation with a minimum GPA of B- on four academic courses from an accredited high school is required. If prerequisite courses are AP, they are acceptable from any year. Otherwise, prerequisite courses must be completed in the Junior or Senior year. The submission of a School Profile is also recommended.
