Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU or Toronto Met), formerly known as Ryerson University is a public research university located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The university’s core campus is situated within the Garden District, although it also operates facilities elsewhere in Toronto. The university operates seven academic divisions/faculties, the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Community Services, the Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science, the Faculty of Science, The Creative School, the Lincoln Alexander School of Law, and the Ted Rogers School of Management.

Brief history
During the Second World War, Howard Hillen Kerr, the director of the Training and Re-Establishment Institute, along with other members of the Toronto Board of Education, saw a need for specialized institutes to provide educational and vocational training for specific jobs for returning veterans.
The institution was established in 1948 as the Ryerson Institute of Technology, named after Egerton Ryerson, a prominent contributor to the design of the Canadian public school system. Today, the university is home to over 45,000 students and offers over 100 undergraduate and graduate programs.

Toronto Metropolitan University is located in the heart of downtown Toronto, with the majority of its buildings situated between Yonge Street to the east, Spadina Avenue to the west, Gerrard Street to the south, and Dundas Street to the north.
Toronto Metropolitan University does not have traditional on-campus residence halls. Instead, the university partners with several off-campus housing providers to offer students a range of accommodation options.

Tuition
Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) assesses fees each term based on your enrolled courses, academic program, year level, and immigration/residency status. Undergraduate and graduate fees are due by the payment deadline at the beginning of the semester, while Chang School fees are due at the time of course enrolment.
Program fees are based on 10.0 course count of study at C$3,118 per 1.0 credit course. Students taking more than 10.0 course count of study will need to pay additional fees. Note that you should budget C$70-$150 per course for books and other supplies.
Admission requirements
Admission requirements vary by program. If you have been educated in a Canadian province and/or territory outside of Ontario you must submit evidence of education equivalent to the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with six Grade 12 U or M courses. Graduate applicants are required to hold a relevant bachelor’s degree or its equivalent, meet the minimum admission requirements for their program of interest, submit their official transcripts and letters of recommendation. Acceptance rate
The Toronto Metropolitan University acceptance rate is estimated at approximately 80%. This means that the university receives about 90,000 applications for 36,100 spaces in direct-entry, first year undergraduates programs across all faculties and schools.
