Trent University has two main campuses: the Symons Campus in Peterborough and the Durham Campus in Oshawa. The campus covers over 1,450 acres and features a mix of modern and historic buildings.

There are six residence buildings on the Symons Campus, including Champlain College, Lady Eaton College, Otonabee College, Gzowski College, Peter Gzowski College, and Julian Blackburn College.

The School of Graduate Studies is dedicated to ensure success for every graduate student. The Trent Centre for Aging and Society was established a year after Statistics Canada declared Peterborough Canada’s most ‘senior’ population and second-largest retirement community.

Community engagement is part of our mandate, especially in terms of developing critically-informed responses to the challenges and opportunities facing older people and aging communities in the Peterborough region.

Sustainability Initiatives

The Sustainability Initiative has many roles within the Trent Community.  The foundation of our work is to assess resource use electricity, natural gas, water and waste materials to identify best practices and innovative methods of reduction.  Through these activities, the sustainability initiative helps the Trent Community minimize our collective impact on the environment.

Future Outlook

In its quest to bring out the best in education, Trent University’s Board of Governors approved the purchase of four properties that are adjacent to the Trent Durham GTA campus.

Acquisition of this 1.9 acre parcel of land lays the groundwork for continued growth at the Thornton Road campus. Short and long-term use of the land, located close to the GO train planned for Oshawa and planned development of Oshawa transit along King Street, is to be determined, however it could help to address pending space needs for faculty and students, as well as an investment property for the University.

Admission Process

Having around 16,000 students, making it one of Canada’s most popular universities, admission to Trent University requires Minimum ‘B’ average (3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale) in a recognized academic grade 12 program with at least four different senior level academic subjects.

A minimum grade of 70% in English 12 satisfies English requirement. See the English Language Proficiency requirements for acceptable tests and exemptions if you do not have the required course/grade.
